Meghan finished her school assignment, gave away her prized belongings, cleaned her room, walked out the front door and out of this life forever in 1999. However, I can't help feeling that as long as this web page is seen by others, she will live on. I know many of her friends come to visit Meghan here because I hear from them. A few months ago, one of her soccer buddies from many years ago contacted me and shared old childhood adventures. She loved Meghan and misses her still. Her friends are young men and women now, graduated from college, married, working, mothers, fathers. All those things Meghan will never know. We miss you Meggie. This web page has been up for more than nine years, still Meghan lives on, in our memories.
Meghan was bright and beautiful. She was compassionate, full of energy and mischief. She loved to dress up and to dress down, often changing from torn bell bottoms and old t-shirts to very sophisticated dresses. Meghan knew how to use a computer, yet still, in her own way, believed in Santa Claus. Long ago, she confessed to me that was afraid of horses. This when her older sister simply lived for horses. She was her own person. She was thrilled when I showed her how to sew on a button during one visit, and grateful when I shortened the legs on her new pants. These were things her father, who she lived with, just didn't think about - and maybe couldn't do if he did. But, Meghan was just so eager to learn. There was something about Meghan that cannot be described. A child, a woman, a cook and housekeeper (if need be), a problem at times and angel at others. She had so many talents and so much love to share. These pages are filled with pictures and memories of a golden-haired, blue-eyed doll who should still be alive. Oh Meghan, we miss you so.
I visited in New Jersey shortly after Meggie was born. She was such a pretty baby. Later, we discovered she was not only pretty, she was also very smart. On the left is Meghan with her mom. On the right, a school photo.
Meghan aboard the sailing ship Star of India in San Diego, California. We spent the day exploring the harbor front in the beautiful port city. Meghan loved the old ship and the shops at Seaport Village. She was 12.
